The Ft. Hood shooter has been identified as a Muslim.  While there has not yet been anything to suggest his religion was part of why he committed his crimes, the Imam for the Central Mosque of Charleston strongly condemns the tragedy.

When stories like the Ft. Hood shooting occur, often times people think there is a connection to Islam. 

Today, Imam Mohamed Melhem of the Central Mosque of Charleston said, “I think that was an unfortunate thing to happen, it was a heinous crime, it was a crime against humanity. We condemn that fully.  We are against any kind of atrocities like that.“
